St. Vincent de Paul Society

The Food and Clothing Pantry is now serving our dear neighbors in need at Hillcrest Congregational Church located at 404 Gregory Lane. Our pantry is open every Tuesday and Thursday (holidays excepted) from 10 to 11:30 AM. We encourage you to check this webpage for updates or to call 925-246-1131.

St. Vincent de Paul Conference (SVdP) is a lay organization inspired by shared Catholic values whose mission is to “bring concrete aid and the comfort of the Gospel to the needy and the suffering.” Emergency food, clothing and services are provided to the less fortunate members of our community on a person-to-person basis. Volunteers meet with families and individuals to assess needs and provide the appropriate assistance.

Typical assistance awarded a dear neighbor in need might include a Grocery Outlet and/or St. Vincent de Paul Clothing Stores voucher. Vouchers can only be used at the location designated and no money is returned to the neighbor by the stores.

Vouchers vary in amount depending upon the size of the family seeking assistance and range from $25 to $100. We provide this assistance to our dear neighbors in need once every 2 months. For those identified as homeless we offer McDonald’s Gift cards and shower passes along with other miscellaneous items once every month.

To assist our dear neighbors, we also provide referrals to other organizations that provide food, clothing, housing, utility assistance and other services to the needy. For families in need, we may provide furniture, beds and household items as they struggle to make a home for their families.

Our dear neighbors are required to provide a current government issued identification and proof of address (unless homeless). Thus, monitoring of assistance is performed to make sure program guidelines are met.
